After much anticipation for this day, it's really amazing to see this day FINALLY arriving! YES! I am no more a NSF now, but a NSman! :D Felt kinda funny when I got to see my pink IC once again. I have totally forgotten how it had looked like! Lol. I can still recall the very first day in NS, when my parents and I just arrived in Tekong. There was this sign that splits my parents and I to two different pathways; there was this flight of stairs which I took, before arriving at a point, which had a soldier there instructing folks like me to leave our pink IC on the table! Ha. I did not realise, until a few days later, that it was the last time I ever got to see my pink IC until I ORD! Lol.
Well, as amazed as I was when I had returned from India, wondering at that time how 26 days managed to pass by so quickly, now I wonder how 1 YEAR 10 MONTHS simply vanished right in front of my eyes! Haha. Time seriously flies! I was looking at some saved sms-es from various friends before I enlisted, encouraging me on and telling me how it will be over real soon! Haha. Also, nice messages over the months that kept my spirits up, simply tells me that this period of time is in no way, a short one, but a very substantial, and probably meaningful one as well! Haha. Well, like what one of my friend, Edward, had said, it's like there are some nice moments worth remembering while trying to complete this NS stint, but no one will ever want to go through all this crap all over again! Once is enough! Lol.
I guess I'll probably miss NS life. Alright, not the life, but certain aspects of it. Haha. Like being able to slack whole day in bunk; wake up in the morning for breakfast, then morning nap, only to wake up for lunch, then afternoon nap, only to wake up for dinner, then nights out! Lol. And this routine can go on for days alright! But hey, NS life isn't always like this alright. Only occassional periods when there isn't much stuff planned on the training program, then do I get to enjoy such 'luxury'! And trust me, such periods are rare in my NS life! Lol!
Well, what's probably hitting me most is the lost of stable income! For the past 1 year and 10 months, I really don't have to worry financially as I was getting about half a thousand every month! (I made that sound like it's a lot, but actually it's really pathetic! :x) However, after ORD, I come to realise that the cash in my bank account is only diminishing, and never increasing anymore. Lol. It's now even made worst with the fact that I'll be going on WAT soon!! So that's like 7k wiped out from my bank account in an instant! Ouch! Well, hopefully I'll be able to earn more than what I'm expecting. Yet in this gloomy economy, I doubt I can earn any more than what's being budgeted! Oh wells. Got to monitor my expenses more carefully now.
It's still great to ORD!! No more nonsense from The Prestige Organisation! Guard duty, standby sentry duty, whatever crap, NO MORE!! Woohoo!! Haha! It's an occassion to rejoice man! :D

Da Jiu. Rest In Peace.
Chinese New Year for this year is extremely different as compared to the past that I have had. It did not feel like a celebration at all this year. For the first time, I did not 'lao yu sheng' through the 15 days at all. For the first time, I do not get to eat 'tang yuan' on the 15th day of CNY. For the first time, I wore white and black more than I wore bright red colours. For the first time, CNY was not a celebration at all, but a 15-day period of sadness, worrying and tragedy which I had to live through. :(
I hope I did not make it sound too dramatic, but I really am feeling this way right now; more upset than ever. I thought there will be more happier posts for this month, but unfortunately, I just cannot find the mood to blog about happier stuff. Well, if you had read my previous post, I said my uncle (Da Jiu) was dying. It is a pity that he has passed away on Friday, 6th of Feb. After being greatly tormented by pancreatic cancer, for about one full year, my uncle lost the battle to the disease in him, and began suffering from multiple organ failures. Though his fighting spirit was strong, as doctors found that his blood has a very high concentration of white blood cells, doctors gave up saving him on Wednesday as they could not find any more useful medication that would aid him. :(
Hence on Wednesday, my uncle was brought back to his home, with all his loved ones gathered around him, praying all day and night to aid him in having a peaceful journey to the gods. That very scene, I will probably never ever forget it in my entire life. It's just so painful and depressing to be seeing your beloved slowly fading away, awaiting for him to draw his last breath when you hope that it will never happen. Hai. Well at least one thing we all agree is that my uncle left peacefully on Friday, as his face shows no signs of pain, but just simply comfort. The funeral then began on Saturday and will last till today. Tomorrow will be the cremation. :(
Death is never an easy thing to face. But life still has to go on. It's really a pity that he has to go at such a young age, only 57 years old! Hai. All I can say now is after all these, the final chapter of my uncle's life will close, and I really hope that everyone can move on from there. I guess it will especially be difficult for my aunt (uncle's wife) and my cousin, but I hope they will find closure soon. :(
I also hope that more medical advances/breakthroughs can come asap. Like I have said before, make cancer a treatable or curable disease, even at the final stage, and not a killer disease! Life's short, so cherish it! Do not take people for granted, and especially learn to cherish people/loved ones around you. May my uncle rest in peace.

Life's Short
There's so much I want to say, so much happier stuff that I will like to blog about. But with the current situation I am facing, I just cannot bring myself to do so now. I am totally lost for words, nothing can express what I am feeling now. :(
I am currently listening to Chopin's Nocturnes. They kind of correctly depict my current state of mind.
My uncle (Da Jiu) is on his way home now. It's his final journey, the last chapter of his life, as only a few hours more remain for him before he departs from his loved ones forever. It's so painful; I have no idea what else to say. I hope he'll rest in peace.
I wish more medical breakthroughs will come in future. Let cancer be a curable disease, and no more a killer one. I have no idea what else to say for now.
