I can still recall how the beginning of this month started so well. Not only was my course given a night's off for the first time, but I also got into the vocation that I had hoped for, FA. Yet now, come to think of it, there is so much regret in me for choosing FA. All the "What If" keeps running through my head. Like "What if I was trained to be an FO instead of FA, I might probably be held back in AI now, enjoying an 8 to 5 job, with not much worries at hand, except completing the clerical work"! Isn't that so much better than all this nonsense that I have to go through now?!
Indeed, the month did not end as pleasantly as I wished it had. It seems that someone out there is just playing a joke on me, and a very great one for sure! It seriously felt like taking drugs; getting all high for a short period of time before starting to feel those uncomfortable withdrawal effects kicking in. If you don't get the picture, it means me being happy over getting into FA, but then even more depressed after that, when I got posted into 23.
And then the good things really have to just keep slipping out of my reach. As though 23 isn't enough, I was selected to join the most 'garang' bty in the unit; C bty! While so many of them (8 in total out of the 23 posted to 23 - what coincidence! -_-) got into HQ bty. When I say that, obviously it means much better life, coz they could simply OTOT in whatever they do. Unlike those posted to btys; we have to follow the gunners wherever they go. Furthermore, with the activities/events planned upcoming for C bty (which I think I should not elaborate here in case it's restricted information), all 5 of us in there seriously just sink into full depression! It's just plain unfair, since we all draw the same pay, but one side has to do more (shit) than the other. ARGHZ!
I tried to reason out for this recent series of unpleasant events occurring on me. In the end, I came up with this theory on how lucky I was with my 'A' Level grades, and so I have to pay back in someway somehow. It's like I'm really lucky to be able to get those grades that could guarantee me a seat in the subject that I wanted to study in university, as well as an optimistic future for the rest of life. All this, just based on my 'A' Levels! But I know there's downsides to being so lucky. And so it has finally came I guess; to get into 23, C bty, and suffer till I ORD. Well then, the only thing now that I can look forward to thus, is simply my ORD date! 110209!! Seriously can't wait!
On a positive light, I went for a medical appointment for my leg last Thursday. Doc sees a problem, but couldn't find a reason for it. Hence he request for an MRI scan of my spine! It's freaking expensive, like $825! Thankfully SAF would be paying for that humongous price. But that's not the point. Point is the price seems to be like a sign depicting my actual future in army, like an 8 to 5 job!! Haha. And to get that means having to down Pes all the way to Pes E so that I go Mindef! LOL. Well, maybe I'm just thinking too much. But at least there's still some hope. Ha!
And so this month didn't close as well too! All I can say is I hope I survive in my new place. Hence, good luck and all the best to me! Till then.

FAIR?
It's really difficult to even start. Brewed in me now is just full of injustice and unfairness. I'm absolutely upset by all that has happened, and simply cannot accept things the way they are. But do I have a choice at all? All these nonsense being forced down my throat, I really don't know what to say anymore!
Indeed, another 9 weeks have past, and the end of my current course has arrived. Very very unexpectedly, I actually attained the "Best Trainee" status. Afterall, being always the one with 'low-self-confidence-in-oneself', it has never occurred to me that I could emerge as one of the best out of so many others (74 in exact) and achieve the award. I thought there were many others out there that seemed to be far more outstanding than myself. And to get "Best Trainee", it means to be good in everything, from physical fitness (which I seriously think I still lack greatly) to the knowledge of the lessons taught; from peer appraisal to even the commanders views or regards of oneself. So many aspects to consider, and the upstairs chose me in the end as the course best. Henceforth, I should be happy isn't it?!
Unfortunately, getting the award didn't make me feel happier at all. Ok. I must admit that I was initially delighted upon knowing that I was the course best, for it gave me a certain sense of assurance as well as acknowledgement for the hard work and the great effort that I've put in during the course. It did make me feel good, but then only for awhile. In the end of the day, getting the award simply means I was presented with a "PLATINUM" ticket to 23 as well. And as everyone should know, 23 is the most active unit out of the other possible units that I can be posted to. Thereby, it obviously highlights the reason that caused me to be depress.
Yet it doesn't end there! Coz it seriously does not look as simple as just being awarded 'Best Trainee' and then 'fullstop'! No! It means when I go over to 23, the upstairs will be looking. They will have greater expectations of me. They will want me to perform better than the rest. Their demands will simply be never ending. In the end, it just means I should be far more capable than the rest; that I am able to do more than my counterpart. But I highly doubt my ability to do so! I seriously don't think I'm as 'pro' as what the upstairs view me. Having to live up to standards and expectations will simply just stress me out and ruin myself. I am afraid! It's like all the "What If?" coming into my head and then the fear just simply grows larger. Hence tell me, what's so good about getting the award afterall? I'd rather not have gotten it, and would be glad to let others have it!
Ultimately, it shows why I'd feel so unfair when getting the award. People who didn't put in the effort gets better stuff, like 8to5, as well as lesser responsibilities. While I, having worked hard, gets all this shit. It is extremely undeserving in my opinion. And this goes the same for those that have worked hard in the course, and yet getting posted to 23. Tell me in which area should I be happy? I really don't know what else to say..
Oh wells. Suck thumb and serve right? All I can hope for now is a decent life in 23. Hope that my remaining NS life, which is now bound to 23 till I ORD, would be a great one at least. I shan't comment on those who got other good postings in which they simply don't deserve it at all, but just wish them all the best in whatever they do. And I wish myself all the best as well.

Parting
is HARD! I seriously hate it man! It's one traumatising experience after another I tell you! I blame myself. Sometimes I just can't understand as well why am I taking it so hard. But yea. I'm just me, and if it's possible, I really wish there is no need to part, to separate, to say goodbyes. Hai.
Since last year especially. First is saying goodbye to JC life. The LTs and Classrooms. The teachers especially, as well as my classmates! I knew it! After JC life, the full attendance of 26 souls coming together will never ever be attainable again. Sad.
Then 2007 came. I got a job at JDPAP! Oh my, first working experience, and I guess it will probably be the best as well! I am just so fortunate to have Shu Heng to introduce me to the job! (Come to think of which, I still owe her a treat. Oops!) The working environment is splendid. No work politics lo! And the people are great, ever caring for one another, helping each other and getting the job done! It's awesome man. But then, because of NS, I had to quit. Took quite some time to recover. Oh wells.
Went to Taiwan with Wei Qi before enlisting into that "(fill in anything here)" place. 8 days, felt like 8 minutes only though. Can consider it a great but also bad time to be visiting my friends there. The trip was an outstanding breather for me. Absolutely refreshing as well. But then, the time to say goodbye came again. And there I was sulking for another few days. Sucks man! Seriously..
After Taiwan came the enlistment. Which now then I realise BMT simply came and went as well. I can still recall how dreadful the whole place felt, how much I had to give in order to barely cope with all those tough trainings. And then 9 weeks just flashed by, and the worst came again, to part with my BMT mates. I mean, I was really glad to be leaving that place. Yet the only thing that held me back is the people whom I had spent my 9 weeks with. Just like JC, it was kind of expected that till now, after passing out from there, we hadn't even met up once. But I really miss those people. I guess it's coz we really went through a lot together, all those shit and stuff. Oh wells, another parting as usual.
Similary, the course I'm at now will end this coming week. Same old feeling just like in BMT. Hai. The only thing now that I'm complaining is that I can't even take photos with these people and at least have something to refer back to in future. You know, to form as part of my memories or recollections. Nope. Nothing at all. All these that had happened in army, it can only be replayed in my head, and that it will be hardly possible for me to share it with others. Sad.
It simply boils down to one simple point, we were once a part, but now becoming apart! People just seem to walk in and out of your life. Yet when paths crossed, lives do change! Hai. Oh wells. I seriously hate it man! But I guess I just need to learn to accept this sad fact. Part and parcel of life right?! Aye. Whatever man..

When The Knot Is Tied
It was very sudden. They have been together for like only 6 months, such a short period of time. Yet they have decided to get married. Reason being she already has his child.
I know it isn't very nice of me to write such stuff about my cousin, but I simply can't help it. Though now she doesn't have the child anymore, (due to her body being rather frail to harbour the young fetus) the marriage still proceeded as normal because many have already been informed and it's too late, as well as embarrassing to cancel the wedding. I still must say that somehow, and I believe that most of my family members would share the same opinion with me, that she deserve a better man.
Alright! Enough gossips. Since she love the man, from the bottom of my heart, I wish her all the best!
The traditional chinese wedding ceremony occurred yesterday, at my aunt's house. My cousin was simply gorgeous with her wedding gown and make up on. It was definitely an interesting process, from the groom trying to get into the house to pick up his bride, and then both, now as a couple, returns to the bride house for the tea ceremony. Lots of chinese traditions and customs to follow, and then the knot is finally tied!
The dinner will be tonight, held in my cousin's workplace, Orchard Hotel. A sumptious meal to consume, yum! :)
Oh wells, marriage! I guess this would be something that I have to worry only in say, 6 or 7 years to come. But the time will pass very fast, and soon it will become a real problem to be solved! Hai! If only it doesn't have to be so difficult. I shan't say much, let things be by itself and hope all goes well. Till then!

A Holiday
It's 9th August! Happy 42nd Birthday, Singapore! Sadly, unlike previous years, the festive mood fail to infiltrate me this year. The funny part is I didn't even remember 9th August falls on this week, and that I actually get to book out in the middle of this week. To think that I was still hoping that there would be a night's off. LOL!
Usually I get all hyped up about national day. I'd so willingly dress up into the colours of our national flag, wave the flag proud up high and sing the national day songs with much patriotism. Patriotism?! Ha! There seem to be none in me this time. Afterall, in the past years, I'd even take the effort to learn the national day song of the year. I can still remember last year's one as well, My Island Home by Kaira Gong. Yet this year, I don't even know the title of the theme song, let alone the singer as well as the lyrics. Somehow I do feel abit sad at myself for not doing so. But then again, I simply can't help it as well!
I guess all this 'ignorance' has got to do with me being in NS. Indeed, somehow NS has resulted me to be numb in almost anything, like gaining the "I don't really care anymore" attitude! Sad, really sad. But it's really not my fault. All those tough physical training, and then the mad howling from upstairs, and the consistent punishments over puny or even non-existent reasons, simply cause me to evolve! To evolve into something that just simply won't respond anymore, to not be bothered about all this nonsense at all, something like a stone!
Oh wells. Now I truly know, the price to pay in order for the peace and security of our country. All this stuff aren't free. They aren't simply gifts sent from Santa Claus! The peace and security that we enjoy now, are fruits of labour of the defence system in the country. Which is why conscription has to be practiced here, in order to get the sufficient army size required out of this tiny population of only 4 million! Which is also why all boys must sacrifice 2 precious years of their life, to serve and learn to protect the interests of the country. Whatever. That was an utter load of crap!
Anyway, the good thing about this holiday is still that I get to book out. Have one full day of off means more time to spend with the computer! Haha. Alright then, off to squeeze with the crowd and watch the fireworks live! And then to book in for one day just to do nothing. That is really lame! Can't they just give us another off to make it a long weekend?! Zzz... Oh wells! Till then.

Ultimate Exhaustion
Another week has come to a close. And this week is really one packed with full so much tiredness that I'm totally worn out. A good thing I kept my Sunday free so that I could recover. Slept so much today, though did feel that quality time had been wasted, but I still feel so much better and refresh now!
After Wednesday's night's off, Thursday and Friday was equally slack. Since there were so much free time available, so more physical training was allocated into those free timeslots. (I would prefer to regard those as physical torture though! Something like having SBO on and doing alternate leg thrusts, that is simply great exercise man!) Friday's SOC is one hell of a time for me I must say. That is the ultimate exercise that I guess I'm going to have problems with for quite some time. I was really surprised by myself for being able to clear all the obstacles. Usually I would have problems with the swing trainer or low rope, yet this time, I managed to clear all of those. Twice somemore, once during the orientation while the second, with everything (SBO) on.
However, it is the full rundown that really kills. Oh man! The absolute shagness overpowering the body after doing the 700m run in SBO. I literally just bang into the wall at my first try, coz I simply couldn't think. Hurt my knee as a result of my clumsiness. LOL! But yup, spent quite some time clearing the obstacles there, and by the time I was done, there was only 1.5 minutes left to complete 600m! How is that possible, when I can't even do 400m in 1 minute in PT Kit?!! So sadly, I had to give up, and just jog my way through, hoping to get at least a better timing. But it's real physical and mental exhaustion after completing the whole SOC rundown. Simply madness. I seriously wonder if it is possible for me to finish the entire course under 10 minutes! But I must do it. All this "plus2 minus2" and possibly even burning my precious weekends is something I must rid of ASAP! And so to accomplish this task, I must pass my SOC! Pass I WILL!
Saturday was another tiring day for me as well. Though I was happy to be able to meet up with CY people as well as "long time no see" 4C peeps, having not recovered from the exhaustion over Friday's SOC resulted in my fatigue level to accumulate and overspill onto my morale level as well. But nonetheless, seeing Zheng Xian, our Taiwan friend who took the effort to come to Singapore for a holiday, did brighten my day to a large extent. And then it was the bowling, and the making fun of Steph and Huimin that concludes the CY outing to be fun! Haha. Oops! That was rather evil..
As for the 4C outing, I guess I was being weird by being extremely silent throughout the whole outing. Hai. I must be numbed with exhaustion already that I didn't really know what to say as well. Just chipped into the conversation here and there, but it was still great to be able to see certain people that I've not keep in touch for the longest period of time.
(There's more stuff that I'd like to blog about, but due to the lack of time, I'll do it next week! :X)
So a new week begins again, this time entering the specialise phase of the FA. New bunk, new course mates, new environment for another 3 weeks. Hope all goes well, and that there will be some night's off here and there again! Till then.

Tekan
Oh yes! And I sooooo must blog about what had happened yesterday night! It was hell man. A turn out which I had never experienced before, conducted by and thanks to our dearest MR X. (I shouldn't specify who! Say I call him MR X) Just to roughly describe what had happened...
It was 9pm. And I had just bathed, fresh and clean, ready to go to bed. Yet still we didn't have our water parade. Then suddenly, IC told us to all fall in downstairs for water parade, and MR X wants to talk to us. Quite furious I was, as I'm CLEAN! Didn't want to get all sweaty and dirty again, but I guess that wasn't up to me to decide. MR X was more furious than me, obviously. Fuming mad he was. Scolded us, or rather, screamed at the top of his lungs at us, and then the Tekan Session began. It was 10 counts of pushups first, but obviously insufficient, he made us spell out ONE to TEN, so the huge amounts that we had to do. And then, some didn't do properly, or we didn't coordinate or whatsoever, and so keep starting from ZERO. (To do the number ZERO, equates to 4 pushups done, coz 4 letters, Z E R O! So imagine from ZERO to TEN!!)
Well of course, who could sustain so many at one go? Then MR X goes, "Tired rite? OK. Hand tired so now I train your leg! See that tree over there? Go touch that tree and come back! MOVE!" The tree was like 100m away, and we had to sprint all the way there and back! Horrid! After which he came and asked which part of the tree did we touch. Since we didn't coordinate and touched anywhere and everywhere of the tree trunk, back to the sprinting again. And then he asked which part of the hand did we use to touch the tree! LOL! Amazing man. We went back and forth like 5 times, before he was satisfied with our legs being tired. So back to pumping position, till our arms were jellyish! Then he made us do jumping jacks, "INFINITY COUNTS OF FOUR"! By the 30+ jump, everyone was shagged and slowing down, so he told us to sit down! As though he would be nice, it was meant for us to do flutter kick! Oh man! At the end of the whole tekan session, my arms and legs were sore, and I was sweating like a pig!!! Forget about being clean already.
As though that half an hour wasn't sufficient, MR X demanded a stand by bed in 15 minutes! Wow. So it was mad rush up 6 floors, and insane packing in that short span of time. I was feeling so light-headed already, and giving up hope on packing, coz he probably could just pick on anything and continue the "TEKAN"! Well, it was a rather short one though, he just walked around and then told us to lock our cupboards and fall in downstairs again! Real shag! After which it was water parade, 1 full bottle! :S It was really hard to down that whole bottle while panting like a dog! And then, the most horrendous part of it all came. I quote MR X, "Now is 2225. I don't care how you all do it, but by 2230, I want all lights out and absolutely no movement! Is that clear?!" Like what the hell?! Here we all are, sweaty and dirty and he doesn't even bother to give us time to wash up but just insist we go to sleep in that horrible state. Feeling so dejected, we all just went up, took off the sweaty admin T, and lie on our beds, keeping a lookout for him. Only like half an hour later then people started moving, heading for the showers and so on.
I was just dirty and sticky, but then the shagness overwhelmed me, and so unwillingly, I just fell asleep. Oh wells. At least it is all over now. Hopefully there won't be such mad PT anymore! It certainly is insane! Especially at a time when we could have all been nicely tugged up in our beds already. Sighs. Of course, MR X must have enjoyed us suffering as well. Like WTH, my view of him had certainly changed from now on. Totally disgusted man! Hai!
Yup. Just hope there won't be of such madness anymore, and that I can "safely" book out on Friday! Till then!

New Beginning
It's the first day of a brand new month, and a great beginning too! And if you are surprise as to how on earth am I able to blog this entry at this time, ha! Coz my hopes, or rather, all our coursemates prayers have been answered and were finally granted a night's off! Woohoo! Even I myself was elated with joy when our sergeant just broke the news to us during last parade just now! Then for a moment everyone was just stun and had no idea what to do with this short period of time. But nonetheless, it's precious "out of camp" hours, and so I've decided to use these hours to just enjoy the peaceful environment of my home, as well as the com.
It certainly has been a great day as well, compared to yesterday! Ha. At least again, my wish did come true and I was posted to FA rather than the dreaded FO. It really means a definite goodbye to route marches as well as camo cream! I must say waiting for the posting was horrible. Hearing the sergeants saying so many being posted to FA just simply sink my hopes further. I was really imagining stuff, like my FA results weren't that great, and that I could run so well, the prospect of me becoming FO just seem to materialise more and more in my head, driving me mad and making me extremely depressed as well. Come to think of it now, I guess that was really foolish and impertinent worries. FA to be, and I'm so happy about it!
A great start for a brand new month, and I certainly hope it would be so for the coming days ahead! More night's off! Woots! :)
