My Holiday Trip with Dearest Family! :)

Oh my. The last day of 2008 is nearing. Usually when this point in time arrives, somehow I'll just get the feeling that there's still so many unfinished businesses, that's meant for 08, left to complete. And yet there just won't be much time remaining to allow me to finish them up. Lol. Oh wells.

Anyway I'm back from Malaysia! It was a great trip man, especially to be able to go on a holiday with my entire family and just my family alone. Not counting the China trip I had in February coz I'd gone with my extended family for that one, the last time we did something like this was more than a year ago; also went to Malaysia, but it was a short trip of only 2D1N in Malacca. This time round, we travelled real far, all the way to Pulau Penang for our holiday. Ha. Father's really the best man, having to constantly keep himself awake and drive us all the way to Penang from Singapore; a good 700+km! We all know that driving is seriously a tiring job. That's why before the trip, we were frantically searching for other means of travel to get us to Penang. Unfortunately, in the end, the coaches had no seats left, and that flights to Penang were just too expensive! Lol. So father, then feeling adventurous and brave, decided that he'll just be the driver for the family! Seriously the best father ever! Ha! :D

Well, I haven't been to Penang ever since 1995, a good 13 years!! Lol. So basically it's kinda like a fresh new experience to be visiting the island once again. Though just a small island that's part of Malaysia, surprisingly the Chinese dominates the population of over a million there! It was once a hub when under the British Colonial rule, and therefore the place is cuturally and historically rich. I went to this Cheong Fatt Tze's mansionnette, and had a great time listening to the stories of this very influential man in the 1900s! Basically he's this Chinese businessman that's extremely rich, built a very huge mansion in Penang, and when he died, all the British and Dutch colonies raised their flags at half mast. That's how influential and important he was. Anyway, there's also a great variety of temples, from Chinese to Indian to even Thai or Burma; as well as churches and mosques. Went to this Thai temple that has a reclining Buddha statue. It was a real beauty man! Lol. Also went to the snake temple, where real live snakes can be seen in corners of the temple! I even took a photo with the snakes dangling around me too! Lol.

Anyway, Penang's still most famous for it's delicious food. Their hawker stalls are really damn good man! Lol. For both nights when my family was there, we had hawker food at two different night markets. Ate a great variety of food can?! Like Char Kway Teow, fried prawn noodle, bbq chicken wings, cuttlefish with veg, asam laksa, rojak, chee chiong fan, hokkien mee, po-piah etc etc etc! Haha. Though unhealthy, the taste of all these delicacies was damn godlite. Shiok, in other words. Ha. Kinda miss the food already. Lol.

Oh wells! After this trip, my family and I all agreed that it's a bit too short to be just spending only 3D2N in Penang. So, we shall go longer next time, and cover more attractions that the island has to offer as well. Ha. It's a great trip man, very relaxing and enjoyable! Alright. Till then.
